Bailey broke BOTH FEET!
Last Sunday, Feb. 28th, I was upstairs putting the kids to bed when I heard Bailey start screaming. I ran downstairs to see her on the floor screaming about her feet. Taylor was out of town so I called Uncle Deloy and had him come over. Bailey told us she jumped off of the bottom 3 stairs. So we thought she had just sprained her ankles really bad. Before Deloy got there Bailey wanted to say a prayer, so we did, then Deloy gave her a blessing when he was there, then before he left she wanted another blessing so we explained she only needed one. Over the next few days her ankles were swollen just like a spain would look. She would not even attempt to put either foot on the ground so I carried her to the bathroom, bed, and car. The only place I went this week was to pick up Payton from school because I couldn't carry a baby, a 2 year old and Bailey into anywhere. When Taylor got home we took Bailey to the doctors. I thought maybe her left foot was broken because it was more swollen and bruised than the right foot, but we thought it was still probably really bad sprained ankles. While she was getting x-rays taken Taylor and I were joking and saying how crazy it would be if both feet were broken. Next thing we know the doctor comes in and tells us they are both broken! When the doctor left the room I told Bailey I knew she was not telling us the truth because you cannot break 2 feet jumping off 3 stairs. I told her the doctor had to know where she jumped from or he couldn't fix her feet. She told us she climbed on the outside of the banister somewhere above the piano and jumped over the piano! I told her if she had told me the truth I would have taken her to the doctors immediately. We had a long talk about telling the truth. When the doctor came back in the room he didn't have to say cast or anything else, all he said was, "What color do you want?" and Bailey said, "Hot pink!" We stopped at her school on the way home and her class happened to be on the playground. They all came running up to her saying they missed her and what happened. She LOVED the attention! She let everyone sign her cast, Mrs. Fisher the owner of Cumorah was first because Bailey loves her! We are going to pick up a wheelchair on Monday because she can't put any weight on them for at least 4 weeks! This is going to be a long 4 weeks for both of us! I get to push her and carry her everywhere and she is already getting bored watching her siblings play on the swings and trampoline.

Poor baby! I love that she picked hot pink! What a girl;) And, The stroller's such a good idea until she gets a wheelchair. Very inventive!
ReplyDeleteNo way! I can't believe that she broke both feet and that it happened while Taylor was out of town! Good luck to both of you making it through the next month. :)

Nicole - you might as well get used to trips to the ER, if she's that brave to jump that far. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I waited "days" to get my kid's broken bones casted, due to my unbelief that they were really broken. Hang in there. Love ya!
